Sold: Colchester Student Lathe

Colchester Student Mk.1.5 lathe with the single-lever safety apron, a gap-bed, imperial graduations - and still in the maker's original paint finish. Serial number 2/53600. The lathe was purchased from Inter-City Machine Tools around 1996 and since then has been used entirely for hobby purposes. Accessories include a 3-jaw chuck (Pratt Burnerd purchased new about 20 years ago), 4-jaw independent chuck, fixed steady, 4-way toolpost, faceplate, thread-dial indicator, two drill chucks on 3 Morse tapers, an Arrand 3-Morse taper tailstock die-holder set, various Morse centres, indexable turning tools and the hard-to-find headstock spindle sleeve. A couple of minor faults: the coolant system does not work and, as on most of these lathes, the headstock gaskets weep. The Transwave static converter used to provide the three-phase supply may be available for £100 extra. Only selling because I need the space for a Bridgeport miller.
