Sold: Holbrook Toolroom Lathe Model B No. 8 Serial No. EW4831

Holbrook High-class Toolroom Lathe Model B No.8 Serial No. EW4831. 4” centre height x 20” between centres and mounted on the maker's original cast-iron stand. In very good mechanical condition and still capable of fine work. Fitted with power crossfeed - and all functions work as they should. I-phase motor and I've added a Myford Super 7 clutch system which makes the lathe much easier to use. This Holbrook would have been sold new to the Royal Small Arms Factory, Enfield and I do have a photograph showing inside the RSAF with machines on the same stand. Please study the photographs for details of the tooling that includes the following: collet drawbar with 10 imperial collets; a 4-inch Pratt-Burnerd 3-jaw chuck. 6-inch Pratt-Burnerd 4-jaw chuck; fixed steady; travelling steady; 8-inch T-slotted faceplate; 5-inch catchplate; tailstock chuck; the original lantern toolpost; 4-way toolpost; a set of changewheels to extend the threading range of the gearbox; a hand-turning T-rest with two sizes of T. This high-quality lathe has been well looked after, is a pleasure to use and, despite some wear, is still a very capable machine. It breaks down into three section and then would fit in an estate car or small can. Viewing and demonstration under power welcome. Details of these wonderful lathes can be found here
