Tom Senior Major M1 milling machine complete with S-Type self-powered, swivelling vertical head with both wheel-controlled fine downfeed and a lever action drilling action - both along the axis of the spindle. Both motors are three phase with the horizontal drive powered through a Drives Direct 1-phase to 3-phase infinitely-variable speed inverter. The vertical head is in overall good condition, the table slideways are tight and it can turn out some respectable work. This miller has an internal backgear for low speeds with high torque enabling very heavy cuts to be taken in the horizontal mode. The horizontal spindle is the later ISO30 taper, whilst the vertical is the standard Morse taper 2. Fault - but does not effect the machine's functionality - but there is a piece missing from the flange of the low speed drive pulley. The suds pump has been removed along with the drive belt for the feeds. Full details of Tom Senior milling machines here
