For Sale: André Bechler Swiss "Simplex" Gear and Pinion Engines.

A pair of unused André Bechler Swiss "Simplex" Gear and Pinion Engines. Priced for sale as a pair - but would split. The two machines were originally obtained still with their manufacturer's packing grease. One was commissioned by having a professionally-made motorised stand made, with pulleys and electrical equipment to run it. That machine was cleaned and overhauled in preparation for the semi-automated production of horological (watch) pinions. The second machine still has all its protective grease in place. Both machines have been kept in a dry, indoor workshop - although the first has a slight bloom of oxidation on some non-critical surfaces; neither has been used although the mounted machine has been run and tested in place.

There is an extensive set of ancillary equipment included: division plates, an instruction/service book, and many manufacturer-supplied technical drawings. There are a couple of useful videos about the Simplex on YouTube.

The machines appear to have been first sold to an American instrument company (COSA Corporation, New York) in the 1950s, and then later imported into England.
