For Sale Hardinge HLV lathe. This is a lovely, ex-Rolls Royce machine and was bought from the owner who worked for them and bought the machine when he retired. The machine is in amazing condition - though naturally, for a 60-year-old, there is some wear and a few marks but nothing that detracts from its functionality, precision and superb engineering and build quality. I have undertaken some key improvements on the machine and these are: Fully laminated manual and new wiring diagrams. New 3 h.p. VFD driven main motor. New Carriage DC motor driven by a VFD. Completely rewired and all new electrical cabinet re-fit with chokes, filters, fuses, VFD's etc. Newly designed master control panel bringing all controls to the front of the machine and gives main motor on/off, emergency stop, fwd/rev, run and jog options, machine light, coolant, variable main motor speed, carriage motor variable-speed control, fwd/rev and stop. Newton Tesla supplied most of the motor/VFD equipment and advised on the upgraded electric installation. The control panel is made from 3mm steel and epoxy painted black, has a CNC cut panel with control panel info and graphics and is compliment to the machine’s looks and uses high-quality BACO switches. The panel is mounted to the main door with two multi-pin connectors allowing removal from the main wiring loom. The original mechanical speed-control function still operates via a newly machined control knob situated to the right of the new control panel, this allows the user to dial in exactly the required speed and torque need for a specific job. The original carriage motor variac now houses an r.p.m. reader showing true spindle speeds. There is a good selection of tooling and accessories, a taper-turning attachment, collets, 3 and 4-jaw chucks, radius-turning accessories, steady, gear-change banjo for metric-transposing changewheels - plus others. The Multifix tool holder - which is original and not a copy - is not in the sale, but negotiable. There is an excellent 4-way clamping tool post supplied with the machine when I bought it. Hardinge HLV lathes are built to last and the engineering is superb. Offers considered over £6000, no VAT to be added, collection to be arranged by the buyer - but I'm happy to ensure that the machine is well handled and protected during loading.
