Hauser Pinion Polishing Machine or "WigWag" Machine.  This machine polishes the leaves of a pinion by using a rotating wheel with polishing compound between the leaves, and with a reciprocating action along the length of the pinion. By having the wheel at a small angle, the pinion also rotates at the same time, ensuring all the pinion leaves are polished. There are eight polishing wheels with the machine to cover different diameters and lengths of work. The stroke of the machine is variable, as is the weight applied during polishing. The machine is driven by a 1-phase-to-3-phase inverter, providing precise control of the speeds required, and it runs very smoothly and quietly. The machine is extremely well built and typical of the very high quality associated with Swiss Hauser products. The plate on the machine shows that it was originally supplied to Smiths Industries.
