For Sale: New John Stevens High Precsion Milling Machine
A new watch/instrument maker's milling machine by John Stevens. Complete with drilling quill, horological 8mm spindle and ER collet spindle, machine vice and all the necessary tee bolts, allen keys, chuck key, spare drive belt, adjustable 24volt power supply and various other parts. There is a movable and flexible light system also included. The machine comes with a 5C collet indexable headstock that can be driven via a rear pulley to enable turning when mounted on the rear table. Standard 5c collets (not included) of up to 1” can be used for turning or gear cutting, etc. This item is not a substitute for a lathe, but is nevertheless a most useful addition. The main table has a single tee slot, measures 9” x 3.5" and has a 4.5inch. In addition to the screwfeed, there is a lever feed that can be disengaged. The leadscrews are 2mm pitch and have anti-backlash nuts. The spindle can be raised to a height of 9.5”. Speeds up to 6500 rpm are achieved via pulley changes and a variable speed controller. The machine is constructed of solid cast iron - in the traditional way - and has a footprint of 9” x 9” x 16” and a weight of approximately 35 kgs. This is a very versatile machine and can be set at almost any position or angle. With the use of the knuckle joint, almost any angle is achievable - many are demonstrated in the photographs. The spindles can be used in either horizontal or vertical mode and most of the attachments used in an off-hand manner - an extended 30mm spigot to facilitate this is included. (this spigot can also be used to extend the various attachments). The photographs should give a clear indication of all aspects of the machine but feel free to call me and ask any questions that you may have.
