Sold: Boxford BUD Lathe

Boxford BUD lathe 4.5" x16" Mk.2 with single-lever engagement of backgear. An all-metric machine on the maker's compact underdrive stand (just 45 inches long) on castors for ease of movement and fitted with power cross feed, a T-slotted cross slide, a new 1 h.p. single-phase motor, rewired (wiring diagram supplied) and all-new V-belts including the link belt to the spindle. Serial number DEM 8656/1/38 (probably 1977) and purchased 2010 direct from a school. It still has the maintenance sticker from Bowerhill (tel. 01225 705 321) dated "2/12/10, next service due – 8/12/11". I've used it for around 4 to 7 hours in total each year since. Included is a full set of metric changewheels some unused; the correct Burnerd half-depth body 6-inch 4-jaw chuck, a Burnerd 4-inch 3-jaw chuck, both with keys, the proper 4-way indexing toolpost, an American type lantern toolpost, Jacobs tailstock chuck, a new chuck backplate drilled to take an ER25 collet chuck (the chuck is not included, but these are widely available at reasonable prices), faceplate, catchplate (not shown in pictures). There are a few small ‘dings’ on the bed; the paintwork is original - if chipped in places.  collet chuck. This is an honest, unmolested example that’s ‘on the button’ with a 3-pin mains plug, ready to go to work. It has cut ¼” wide continuous swarf with HSS knife tool on steel bar stock with no complaints. Located near Bridport, Dorset with easy access for loading onto a trailer. £875 or near offer.
