Cowells 90ME - a miniature backgeared and screwcutting lathe mounted on a self-contained base and driven from a rear-mounted countershaft. Designed for smaller model engineering use, has a proper backgear assembly (clustered at each side the left-hand headstock bearing) with the 12 spindle speeds spanning 60 to 2100 rpm; the bed has a gap, the cross slide is extra-long and T-slotted, a swivelling top slide is fitted as standard and - most usefully -  the saddle traverse incorporates an adjustable, automatic disengage mechanism. Accessories include a collet chuck and collets, milling slide, a high-speed milling spindle, 3-jaw ring-scroll precision 3-jaw chuck, independent 4-jaw chuck, 4-way toolpost, 2-way toolpost and a single toolpost, tailstock rotating centre, two tailstock chucks, angle plate, saw arbor, a set of screwcutting changewheels and a set of cutting and milling tools.
