Colchester 'Master' and 'Student'  Early Lathes (1930s to early 1950s on either a pair of cast-iron legs or with a cast-iron plinth under headstock and a leg under the tailstock end). Unfortunately, data published by the Company for their early lathes was either non-existent or skimpy - and information about early Colchester Master lathes (before about 1953/4) has been difficult to find. No proper handbook was published until a small A5 edition, complete with a photographic parts list, of the late 1940s. Unfortunately, even this was not complete, as it lacked the comprehensive screwcutting data of the later, larger editions (though the screwcutting arrangement was, actually, identical). Therefore, I have put together a pack of data of everything that is known: it consists of the first handbook for the Master/Student, the screwcutting sheets from the next edition, the complete Parts Manual from the next edition (many items were the same and the pictures are much clearer) and 64 pages of early Colchester Sales & Specification Literature showing all the various models of Master lathe made and most of the other lathes of the same era.
