Set of 3 Toyo ML1 (ML-1) Lathe Belts made from round 5 mm diameter Swiss "Polycord. There is confusion as to what length these belts need to be - and several differences have been found. Hence. the solution is to make up your own using 1 metre of Poloycord. This is supplied complete with instructions about measuring and joining.

The usual problem with Hobbymat motors is a failure of the centrifugal switch or capacitor. We sell the correct capacitor and a set of detailed dismantling instructions for £21 + post (+ VAT in the UK and EU) that allows the motor to be converted to a much better "cap-start-cap-run" configuration - full instructions provided. The conversion allows the motor to start without the need for the troublesome centrifugal switch.
38-tooth gear to fit on the headstock spindle and engage with the headstock pulley as part of the backgear system.
The gear was made with two pressure angles:
1) 14.5-degrees for older lathes with a swing-type quadrant lever on the front face of the headstock, like this http://www.lathes.co.uk/boxford/img10.jpg
Emcomat 7, 7L, 8.4, 8.6 and V8 lathes: drive belt, toothed type 1-inch (25mm) wide. Unfortunately, this belt is now out of production - but the 3/4" (20mm) belt for the earlier version of this lathe fits and works just as well - but clearly, if the lathe is hard used, will not last as long.
Thread Dial Indicators to fit Boxford, South Bend "9-inch" lathes and Smart & Brown Sabel, SAB and S lathes - with Imperial 8 t.p.i. pitch leadscrews and for other makes of lathes (such as the Harrison M300 and some Colchester Bantam lathes) with 6 mm pitch leadscrews. Use the 'down-arrow' box below to select the one you need.
Raglan "5-inch" Lathe - the upper top slide casting (a picture of this model here). It is not uncommon for this slide to snap in two across the front edge of the T-slot.
The upper top slide casting for the Raglan Little John lathe. It is not uncommon for this slide to snap in two across the front edge of the T-slot. Machined complete ready to fit - though you have to transfer the gib-strip adjustment screws and, once assembled, drill and tap the holes to secure the feed-screw end plate.
RING GEAR to repair the main spindle Bull Wheel (the larger of the two gears on the main spindle). Machine off the damaged teeth and shrink or Loctite the new gear in place. Can be used on all belt-drive models the A, B, C, AUD, BUD, CUD, ME10, CSB and those T and TUD non-screwcutting lathes fitted with backgear - but not the VSL which had hardened backgears. PLEASE NOTE: this is a 14.5-degree gear, not the later 20-degree.
Drive belts for the vertical milling head fitted to Toyo (Manix) Record ML210 lathes (or the stand-alone milling machine version). The belts are top-quality, Swiss-made Polycord in the special machine-tool drive variety. Two belts are supplied in the set with lengths of 265mm and 285mm.

After some difficulty obtaining reliable and correctly-made supplies of Emco Unimat belts we have decided to offer instead the special Swiss-made drive belt we sell for light industrial applications. It's widely used on all sorts of drives and we now sell lots for watch and clockmaker's lathes - and of course various kinds of Unimat. It's long-lasting and very reliable.
Unfortunately, these belts are now very difficult to obtain with minimum orders and expensive with post from the EU. As an alternative, I suggest using a 1.1 metre length of 7 mm Polycord round belting. It's a special Swiss-made machine-tool drive type and very effective and can be joined into the lengths needed for a Toyo ML360. It can be ordered here with full joining instructions provided..

Kerry "Super 8" & "Drillmaster" drive belt. UK or EU-made high-quality, machine-tool grade belt with an invisible joint that, unlike the cheap imports, does not bump as it goes around the pulleys and so ensures the smoothest possible drive. This is the correct fitting for both the Mk1 and Mk.2 Kerry Super 8 models and all versions of the "Drillmaster". Details of Kerry drills here
A high-quality, English-made casting to make a T-slotted cross slide for Boxford and South Bend "9-inch" lathes. It is also possible to make a T-slotted slide for other 4 to 5-inch centre height lathes - in the case of the Raglan "Little John" and "5-inch" it can only be used as a boring table as it is not possible to mount the top slide on it. Machined only on the top surface these castings are long-term stored and so very stable - but they do need cleaning before machining.
Boxford VSL Boxford Lathe Vari-speed belt. Unfortunately, the exact belt is no longer available but one close can be supplied. In order to obtain the whole speed range, this will need 1/4" (6mm) packing piece between cross-shaft and hangers to increase the distance to the motor. However, this is not essential as only a little of the slowest speed will be lost if the belt is fitted "as-is". Sent insured by Royal Mail Special Delivery.
Kondia FV-1 Turret Milling Machine Timing Belt. The dimensions are as follows: Length about 592 mm; width 28.7 mm (this might be slightly less than the belt fitted by the makers); number of teeth 42 (the tooth form is slanted with a top width of about 4 mm) tooth pitch about 13.7 mm.
Later models of the FV-1 might have had a tooth form that was "half-round". If yours is like that, please phone 01298-871633 or email tony@lathes.co.uk for details.
