Custom Drive Belts

We can make several types of belt to your specifications, and these can be supplied joined or you can join them yourself on the machine. Follow the links below for more information.

Betalon Multiply Flat Belting

The ideal installation for any machine tool is an endless Betalon-Multiply belt: these are light in weight but immensely strong and stretch resistant. They absorb shock loads well, have a high coefficient of friction, enjoy a proven record of reliable industrial service and can be made in almost any combination of length and width.

Super-Tensile Flat Belting

This belt (unlike cheaper alternatives cut from conveyor belts and cheap copies made in India) is UK-made, enormously strong, densely woven and specially designed for machine-tool use.

Polycord Belts - Solid Round Plastic Belting

Polycord Belting - immediate delivery from stock. This makes an excellent, long-life application for hard-worked machines - from models though engravers to small lathes and millers, etc. Our solid plastic belting is made in Switzerland and of the very best quality. We can produce belts of practically any length down to 140 mm long using a jigged joint and heat weld. Although all belts stretch, Polycord is more resistant than most, especially when 6mm in diameter or over.

Hollow Round Plastic Belting

This makes an excellent, long-life application for hard-working machines. Our plastic belting is of the very best quality and is made in Switzerland. Hollow belts are easy to fit without dismantling the machine or having to melt the ends of the belt together. However, if you need a belt with minimum stretch, the solid type, available here, is the better choice.

Round Leather Belting
Early lathes, light-duty milling machines, drills, Singer and other makes of sewing machine and assorted power tools were often driven by a round leather belt, sometimes referred to in contemporary literature as a "gut" drive. This type of belting is also used in furniture and similar products. It is still available and usually in stock for immediate delivery. The belt colour is actually a light tan - and far lighter than shown in the photograph. Please note: the stated diameter of the material is nominal i.e. the measurement might be a little under or over the given figure.
Power Twist V-Belt

A new development of an old idea - a link belt without metal fasteners. This is highly effective on all lighter machine tools and especially useful on precision lathes and millers where a "softer" drive, free from vibration, is appropriate.

Nu-T-Link V-Belt

This is the superior replacement for the original "Brammer" black-fabric "round-end" link-belting that was held together with mushroom-headed metal pins each (usually) stamped with a letter "B". The new belts have only a slight curve to the end of each link and the head of the pins are now "T" section.

Alligator Belt Lacing - Genuine American-made

Alligator Belt Lacing - the Genuine American-made product not the inferior copy made in China. A length of clip is hammered in at each end of the belt and joined with two sections of the special oval pin supplied - these being designed to work back-to-back. Alternatively, a length of nylon or red-fibre rod can be used. A detailed instruction sheet is supplied with each clip. "Alligator clips" are made in various sizes but five cover most belts in common use.

Round drive belt for the small but popular Naerok, NuTools, Warco, Seeley and Multico branded bandsaws. This is the very best quality, Swiss-made Polycord.
We have determined that the Naerok and NuTools versions had a belt made from 7 mm diameter material in the following lengths: 650, 660, 670 and 680 mm. However, it's important to check the length you need carefully and tick the right box.

Please take care to measure the belt and select the appropriate length below.

Drive belt for Emco V10 and Mentor V10 lathe

Toothed drive belt for Emco V10 and V10 Mentor lathe. The belt should be 19 to 20 mm (3/4") wide and possibly marked 200XL x 75, iIf so, this belt is correct. However, some late versions of the V10 appear to have been fitted with the 25 mm wide (1") belt from the V10P. If your belt is missing, just measure the width of the toothed pulley. If the pulley is 25 mm (1") wide you'll need the V10P belt that can be ordered here: https://store.lathes.co.uk/parts/drive-belt-emco-v10p-lathe

Emcomat 7 and 7L lathes: Toothed Drive Belt

Emcomat 7 and 7L lathes: Toothed Drive Belt. Only the 3/4" (19 mm) wide belt is now available. The 1-inch (25mm) belt is no longer made. If you lathe has the wider belt,. the narrower one will still work but, if the lathe is hard used, will not last as long.

Kennedy Hexacut Saw Belt

For the more common Kennedy "Hexacut" Model 60 hacksaw the flat belt is normally 1" (25 mm) wide and 21.8" long (554 mm) - however, because the size may have changed over the years, it would be safer to measure yours to get an exact figure. As the belts are custom-made, if you order the wrong length a refund is not possible. An accurate measurement can be taken around the pulleys with a strip of paper stretched around, overlapped, marked, and then carefully measured. Please put the length details in the order comments box.

Hollow Round Belt Connector

Mushroom connectors for hollow round plastic drive belts. Click the down arrow in the size box to choose the correct one for your belt: The size of the connector refers to the diameter of the belt material - not the size of the hole in the belt.  Connectors for belts of the following diameters are available: 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm and 12mm are available.

Toyo ML210 lathe drive belts

As the lengths of the round drive belts on this appear to have varied we supply 1.2 metres of 5 mm diameter Polycord for you to make up your own. The belts are joined by melting the ends together - simple step-my-step instructions are included.

Toyo-ML1 Lathe Drive Belts

Set of 3 Toyo ML1 (ML-1) Lathe Belts made from round 5 mm diameter Swiss "Polycord. There is confusion as to what length these belts need to be - and several differences have been found. Hence. the solution is to make up your own using 1 metre of Poloycord. This is supplied complete with instructions about measuring and joining.

Myford Super 7 and ML7R Drive Belts Z-section T-Link

Motor to countershaft and countershaft to headstock belts of the NuT-Link Type in a Z-Section.  Link belts help to reduce the vibration normally passed from a single-phase motor to the lathe - and was a fitting often used by Myford Service engineers to "quieten" a noisy machine. On the Super 7 and ML7R, the T-link belt is highly effective on the drive from motor to countershaft.

Myford Super 7 and ML7R Drive Belts - PowerTwist

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY: The only PowerTwist belt needed on the Super 7 and ML7R is an "A" section from the countershaft to the headstock. The use of this belt guarantees that the lowest speed will be available as, when fitted with the metal-pin NuT-link there may not be enough room between the inner face of the headstock and the largest pulley on the main spindle.

Emcomat 7, 7L, 8.4, 8.6, V8 lathes belt -WIDE 1-inch

Emcomat 7, 7L, 8.4, 8.6 and V8 lathes: drive belt, toothed type  1-inch (25mm) wide. Unfortunately, this belt is now out of production - but the 3/4" (20mm) belt for the earlier version of this lathe fits and works just as well - but clearly, if the lathe is hard used, will not last as long.

Myford Mystro Wood Lathe Drive Belts

The correct high-quality drive belts for Myford Mystro wood-turning lathes.
There are two belts:
10 mm wide for the standard machine and 20 mm wide for the variable-speed model. Click the down arrow in the box below to select the one you need.

Myford ML8 Drive Belt

For the Myford ML8 lathe the new, improved metal-pin T-link belting is ideal. It's a sectional belt so no dismantling is needed to fit it. For lathes on the maker's stand 1.2 metres is the length needed. If mounted on a home-made bench with a thick wooden top, 1.3 metres is usually sufficient. The width required is 1/2" (13 mm) = an "A" section.

Miniature V-Belts

Mini V-belts, 8 mm across the top surface - as used on a wide variety of small machine-tool and in other applications. High-quality, genuine European-made belts. These belts can be difficult to source, but we aim to keep stock of all the sizes listed. The post price covers the shipping of three belts. Click the down arrow in the box showing the 375 mm belt to see the range of sizes available. The "teeth" on the inside of a belt are not teeth, but cut-outs that allow the belt greater flexibility when running around small-diameter pulleys.

Minilor TR1 Lathe Drive Belts

Minilor TR1 lathe toothed and V drive belts (the V-belt has been replaced by a Swiss-made round belt in a high-grip Polycord) but the special toothed belts are available.
Although these belts are all the correct length and tooth pitch, they vary slightly in width.
Click in the box below and it will show all the belts available.
