Sold: Pittler C3 Lathe

For Sale: a classic Pittler C3 lathe precision (130mm x 600mm) badged by George Adams the UK agent for Pittler machines. Built c1900 and in full working order. I have looked after this lathe for over 40 years making model steam and Stirling engines but now old age forces me to seek another custodian for it. It's mounted on its original cast iron base and is still, I believe in its original paint. This lathe does show signs of backlash on cross-slide leadscrew nuts - but has been carefully looked after all its life, it shows little wear and no significant corrosion. It retains all the key Pittler accessories: 3 worms (1-start, 5-start, 10-start), a complete set of changewheels (5 for 1-start, 16 for 5 and 10-start), a dividing head with 1 and 5-start worms, worm drive to tailstock end of leadscrew, a set of 14 collets with threaded draw tubes, two cross-slide assemblies (one Pittler ‘pivoted’ type), a fixed steady, travelling steady, a backgeared headstock with 3-step flat belt pulley, a large, high-quality, conical-scroll self-centring 3-jaw chuck by Taylor, large faceplate-cum-4-jaw chuck, fixed and rotating centres. Modern small self-centring 3-jaw and 4-jaw independent chucks. Single-phase motor. The base dismantles easily so the whole can be loaded by two men. Located in Winchester (SO23). A chance to acquire a great example of a lathe by one of the most famous nineteenth-century machine tool inventors. Price? - make me an offer! Phone 07484-784388  or 01962-861489.
