Sold: Lorch LAS High-precision, backgeared and screwcutting lathe

For Sale: Lorch LAS High-precision, backgeared and screwcutting lathe. Supplied new to the MOD in 1958 and then to the workshop of a professional clock repairer. In very good order, mounted on a sturdy hardwood bench and complete with the rare carriage fine-feed attachment, a new, high-quality Japanese-made Kitagawa 3-Jaw chuck with the proper Lorch locking backplate to enable safe reversing, 39 collets including 1/32” to 5/16” in 1/64 increments with drawbar and spindle nose protector, step collets, travelling steady, the maker’s hand-turning rest, a complete standard set of screwcutting changewheels plus extra transposing ones to give a full range of imperial and metric pitches, bed-mounted carriage stop, 4-way toolpost and a copy of the maker’s Instruction and Parts Manual. Drive is by a 1-phase to 3-phase Omron inverter to a new Crompton motor that gives, via a dial, infinitely-variable speeds and instant reversing. With the standard drive the twelve spindle speeds spanned 67 to 3000 r.p.m. but with the inverter drive these can be both much slower and faster. £2750 Details of Lorch LAS lathes here
